Purpose - The purpose of this study is to suggest a systematic framework of determining suitable locations for camping sites using closed schools in Korea. This is achieved by the following procedures. Design, data, and methodology -First, the relative importance for each locations factor the was derived using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The distance criteria for each location factor was established using the Geographic Information System (GIS). Then the location measure for each candidate site is calculated as a weighted sum of the location factors and their corresponding relative importances. Next, the derived results were visualize d in a map using spatial interpolation method in GIS. Result and Conclusions-The candidate sites with relatively high scores were classified into natural (stream & mountain) and urban types to discuss the location specific development plans.
