본 연구는 학교 밖 청소년이 지각하는 방임, 진로장애, 지역사회 무질서가 비행에 미치는 영향을 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 학업중단 청소년 패널조사 2차년도 자료를 활용하여 학교 밖 청소년 599명의 자료를 분석하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학교 밖 청소년이 지각하는 방임은 비행에 유의미한 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 학교 밖 청소년의 진로장애는 방임이 비행에 미치는 영향을 매개하였다. 즉, 학교 밖 청소년이 지각하는 방임이 진로장애를 심화시켰고 이어서 비행 수준을 증가시켰다. 셋째, 지역사회 무질서는 방임이 진로장애를 통해 비행에 미치는 매개효과를 조절하였다. 즉, 학교 밖 청소년이 지각하는 방임이 진로장애를 매개로 비행에 영향을 미치지만, 지역사회 무질서를 감소시킴으로써 이러한 매개 효과를 줄일 수 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학교 밖 청소년의 비행 예방을 위한 다차원적인 개입 방안 마련의 필요성을 제시하였다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of neglect on delinquency through career barriers and the moderated mediation effect of community disorder among out-of-school youth. For this purpose, analyses were conducted using 599 out-of-school youths selected from the second wave panel of school dropouts surveyed by the National Youth Policy Institute. The main results are as follows: First, out-of-school youths' neglect was positively related to delinquency. Second, out-of-school youths' career barriers partially mediated the relation between neglect and delinquency. Third, community disorder moderated the effects of out-of-school youths' neglect on delinquency through career barriers. Based on these results, political and practical implications were discussed to prevent the delinquency of out-of-school youth.
