아우트로 패션의 포스트구조주의적 조형성 연구 / A Study on Post-structural Formativeness in Outro Fashion

Abstract
Today, outro fashion, a hybrid of casual wear and outdoor wear, is gaining more and more importance as consumers become increasingly interested in well-being lifestyles and leisure activities. Consumers with their previous image of outdoor as limited only in mountain hiking are extending their apprehension of outdoor to a wider range of various leisure activities. This can be interpreted as one of the effects brought by Post-structural phenomena of decomposition, deconstruction, and decentralization which are manifested in various areas of society, culture, and art. Also, it promotes diversity and open-mindedness by enabling fashion culture to embody uncertainty as well as différance and hybrid. Therefore, the writer of this article observes tendency for casual wears toward the outro style in recent fashion trend and analyzes the outro fashion in aesthetic perspective theoretically based on the Post-structural paradigm, that is, focusing mainly on the ideas of Deconstructivism, Rhizome, and Nomade. For research methods, a review of literatures and precedent studies took place for inquiry on definition and history of outro, background of formation as well as fashion trend of outro, and its Post-structural paradigm. In addition, an analysis of fashion publications and internet researches took place in order to examine the elements of design and Post-structural formativeness manifested in outro fashion. The results of this study are as follows; Firstly, ‘outro’, a term formed from compounding words ‘outdoor’ and ‘metro’, can be defined as a mixture of conventional high-performance outdoor wear for leisures such as mountain hiking, and sophisticated high-style city wear for urban life. In Korea, starting mainly with outdoor wear for mountain hiking in 1950s through 1960s, outro fashion has advanced in accordance with development of functional fabrics, recognition of sportswear as component of high-fashion, and popularity of sportswear as casual wear in daily life. Especially, the spread of well-being culture, the emergence of sports and leisure industries, and the climate change in the global environment have been major backgrounds of formation of outro fashion. The outro fashion trend, by perspectives projected on the subject, can be divided into ‘the outro of outdoor wears’ and ‘the outro of casual wears’. Secondly, Post-structural paradigm can be approached with ideas of Deconstructivism, Rhizome, and Nomade. Derrida’s Deconstructivism is shown as différence and répétition through recognition of resistance to structural totality, embracement of uncertainty and disorder, pursuit of diversity and openness, and absence of centralism. Deleuze and Guattari’s idea of Rhizome diversifies and diffuses differences as well as multiplicity among various forces to form anti-hierarchical, disordered, and scattered state, which demonstrates hybrid and duplication through connection, heterogeneity, and non-signifier rupture. Attali’s Nomadism is shown as instability and portableness derived from non-sedentary, uncertain situation and fluid viewpoint that creates new values against existing value system and code. Thirdly, as results of analysis of Post-structural formativeness embodied in the outro of casual wears, there were ‘Simplicity’, ‘High functioning’, ‘Intercombination’, and ‘Portableness’. The simplicity and the high functioning reflect deconstructive thoughts of post-structuralism. The simplicity is expressed as repetitive mono pattern or restrained colors and details, while the high functioning is demonstrated as ergonomic designs or new technology textiles. The intercombination reflects the idea of Rhizome and manifested as eclectic styles or complex materials. The portableness reflects Nomade and expressed as detachable details or multilateral designs. According to the above, this article is considered to provide framework for the analysis of the new phenomenon in fashion evolved from combination of casual and outdoor wear. The arise of outro in post-constructive era is a powerful mega trend in modern fashion rather than just a temporary fad for outdoor wears with functional elements or outdoor feeling designs. The outro fashion is believed to facilitate innovational developments in creative, groundbreaking future fashion designs as well as technologies.
오늘날 웰빙․레저 문화에 대한 소비자의 관심이 높아짐에 따라 등산에만 국한되었던 아웃도어(Outdoor)의 이미지가 다양한 레저 활동으로 확대되면서 점차 캐주얼웨어와 아웃도어웨어가 접목된 아우트로 패션의 비중이 증가되고 있다. 이는 사회, 문화, 예술의 다양한 영역에서 해체, 탈구조, 탈중심으로 나타나는 포스트구조주의적 현상의 일환으로, 패션문화에서의 차연과 하이브리드, 불확정성을 가능케 하여 다양성과 열린 사고를 추구한다. 이에 본 연구자는 현대 패션에 나타난 캐주얼웨어의 아우트로화 경향에 주목하고, 포스트구조주의적 패러다임을 이론적 근거로 아우트로 패션을 미학적 관점에서 분석하였다. 연구방법으로는 선행연구 및 문헌고찰을 통해 아우트로의 개념과 역사, 형성배경과 패션경향 및 포스트구조주의적 패러다임, 즉 해체적 사고, 리좀적 사고, 유목적 사고로 중심으로 살펴보았으며 패션간행물, 인터넷 검색 자료를 통해 디자인 요소를 분석하여 아우트로 패션에 나타난 포스트구조주의적 조형성을 고찰하였다. 본 연구의 요약 및 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아우트로는 아웃도어(Outdoor)와 메트로(Metro)를 합성한 용어로써 등산복처럼 고기능성 레저용으로 제작된 정통 아웃도어웨어 패션에, 도심에서도 어울리는 세련된 시티 웨어(City wear)를 멋을 가미한 개념으로 정의된다. 우리나라에서는 1950-60년대 등산복 위주의 아웃도어웨어에서 시작되어 기능성 소재의 개발, 스포츠의 고급이미지화, 스포츠웨어의 캐주얼화로 각광을 받으면서 발전하였다. 특히 웰빙문화의 확산과 스포츠․레저산업의 부상, 지구환경과 기후변화는 아우트로 패션의 형성배경이 되었으며 패션경향은 주체를 보는 관점에 따라 ‘아웃도어웨어의 아우트로화’와 ‘캐주얼웨어의 아우트로화’로 나눌 수 있다. 둘째, 포스트구조주의적 패러다임은 해체적 사고, 리좀적 사고, 유목적 사고로 나누어 고찰한 결과 자크 데리다(J. Derrida)의 해체적 사고는 내부의 근본적 해체를 추구하는 구조나 총체성에 대한 저항, 불안정과 무질서의 포용, 다양성과 열림의 추구, 중심의 부재를 인정함으로써 나열과 차연으로 나타난다. 질 들뢰즈(G. Deleuze)와 펠릭스 가타리(F. Guattari)의 리좀적 사고는 다양한 힘들의 차이와 복수성을 다원화하고 산포시켜 탈위계적, 비질서, 산종상태에 있는 것으로, 접속과 이질성의 원리, 비기표적 단절원리로 하이브리드, 중첩이 나타난다. 질 들뢰즈와 자크 아탈리(J. Attali)의 유목적 사고는 주어진 가치체계와 코드에서 벗어나 새로운 가치를 창조하는 비정주적, 불확정적 상태로 차이와 유동적 시각에서 기인하여 불안정, 휴대화로 나타난다. 셋째, 아웃도어웨어와 캐주얼웨어의 경계가 해체되어 아우트로화가 시각적으로 명료하게 표출된 캐주얼웨어의 아우트로화를 중심으로 아우트로 패션에 나타난 포스트구조주의적 조형성을 분석한 결과 단순성, 고기능성, 상호결합성, 휴대성이 도출되었다. 단순성과 고기능성은 포스트구조주의의 해체적 사고를 반영한 것으로, 단순성은 ‘반복적 단일형태’와 ‘절제된 색채와 디테일’로, 고기능성은 ‘인체공학적 디자인’과 ‘뉴테크놀로지 소재’로 표현되었다. 상호결합성은 리좀적 사고를 반영한 것으로 ‘절충적 스타일’과 ‘복합적 소재’로 표현되었으며, 휴대성은 유목적 사고를 반영한 것으로 ‘탈착가능한 디테일’과 ‘다변적 디자인’으로 표현되었다. 상기의 내용을 통해 볼 때 본 논문은 아우트로 패션의 포스트구조주의적 조형성을 연구해봄으로써 캐주얼웨어와 아웃도어웨어의 결합으로 나타난 새로운 패션현상에 대한 분석틀을 제공할 것으로 사료된다. 포스트구조주의 시대에 나타난 아우트로는 단순히 아웃도어웨어의 기능적 요소나 아웃도어 감각의 디자인 요소를 일시적으로 나타내는 단순한 경향이 아니라 현대 패션의 강력한 메가트렌드로, 창의적이고 혁신적인 미래 패션의 디자인 개발뿐 아니라 기술부분에 있어서도 획기적인 발전을 촉진시킬 수 있을 것으로 전망된다.
