Questionnaire was distributed to 208 participants, and 174 were included in the final analysis. A total of 69 questions consisting of 15 questions on the general characteristics and the Disaster-related characteristics, 29 questions on the disaster preparedness competency, 25 questions on the disaster response competency were analyzed with IBM SPSS statistics 24.0 program to test frequency, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Tukey post hoc comparisons, Pearson Correlation.Result:1) 68.4% of the respondents answered that they have disaster education experience within 2 years. 49.6% answered that they have received disaster education once or twise. 86.8% answered that they have completed disaster related subject during the undergraduate studies. 27.6% answered that they have disaster medical assistance experience. Role of emergency care was 49.3%, triage was 27.4%, transfer was 15.1% during the disaster medical assistance.2) The mean disaster preparedness competence score was 3.57±0.63 out of a score of five. Participants’ disaster preparedness competence significantly differed according to sex (p=.000), career at current emergency department (p=.037), and type of emergency medical center (p=.000). Further, disaster preparedness competence significantly differed according to disaster education experience (p=.000) and education frequency (p=.001).3) The mean disaster response competence score was 4.09±0.57 out of a score of five. Participants’ disaster response competence significantly differed according to sex (p=.000), age (p=.002), total clinical career (p=.002), and career at current emergency department (p=.002). Further, disaster response competence significantly differed according to disaster education experience (p=.000) and medical assistance experience (p=.045).4) Disaster preparedness competence and disaster response competence were positively correlated (p=.000). Disaster preparedness competence was positively correlated with some subcategories of disaster response competence, namely basic disaster-related concepts (p=.000), response plans for hospital disasters (p=.000), individual preparedness (p=.000), communication (p=.000), and preparedness for mental and psychological problems (p=.000).Conclusion: The results of this study showed that disaster preparedness competence and disaster response competence of paramedic in disaster medical assistance team were relatively high. Importance of disaster education and disaster medical assistant experience were identified and positively correlation between disaster preparedness competence and disaster response competence was confirmed. Therefore, A paramedic without disaster education should be provided education first, gradually increase education opportunity from continuous interests on the disaster education. Further, it is important for paramedic to know their disaster preparedness and response capacities and advance on their shortcomings, as well as to develop education and training programs that properly equip paramedic with practical competencies
