사회적 기억을 위한 참여형 디지털 아카이브 활성화 방안 연구 / A Study on Participatory Digital Archives for Social Memory

Abstract
본 연구는 사회적 기억의 보존과 확장을 위해 현존하는 참여형 디지털 아카이브의 문제점을 파악하고, 적극적 이용자 참여와 연계를 기반으로 하는 참여형 디지털 아카이브의 활성화 방안을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 관련 선행연구와 문헌연구를 통해 기록학적 관점에서 사회적 기억의 개념을 분석하고, 참여형 디지털 아카이브의 정의 및 유형을 살펴봄으로써, 참여형 디지털 아카이브가 사회적 기억의 보존을 위한 필수적 공간임을 밝히기 위한 이론적 근거를 논하였다. 이어서 본 연구는 사례연구 및 면담연구를 통해 참여형 디지털 아카이브의 현황과 문제점을 분석하였다. 각각의 사례는 일반, 참여, 정책, 서비스 영역으로 나누어 비교 분석하였다. 일반 속성으로 운영 주체, 지속 기간, 수집 주체, 기술을 살펴보았다. 기술은 오픈소스 소프트웨어 종류, Open API 제공 여부, 모바일 웹 제공 여부, 오프라인 아카이브 보유 여부로 다시 세분하여 분석하였다. 참여 방식은 이용자 참여도에 따라 적극적 참여, 허브 방식 참여, 소극적 참여로 구분하고, 각 아카이브가 제공하는 참여 기능을 비교 분석하였다. 정책 영역에서는 이용약관, 개인정보 처리방침, 저작권 정책, 수집정책의 보유 여부와 각 아카이브의 주요 수집물, 수집 범주, 분류 방식, 기술 요소를 논하였다. 서비스는 콘텐츠, 검색, 커뮤니케이션 영역으로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 면담연구는 아카이브 이용자 및 운영자 그룹을 대상으로 진행하였다. 이용자 그룹에게는 참여형 디지털 아카이브의 참여, 정책, 서비스 영역에 관한 의견과 전반적인 아카이브 이용 경험을 물었다. 운영자 그룹에게는 아카이브의 구축 및 운영 과정의 어려움과 해결 방안 그리고 미래 가치를 질문하였다. 결론에 갈음하여, 본 연구는 참여, 정책, 콘텐츠 서비스, 커뮤니케이션 서비스 측면에서 참여형 디지털 아카이브 활성화 방안을 제시하였다.
This study aims to investigates various methods to promote active engagements of users in participatory archives for social memory. It focuses on users and their active participations in digital archives beyond providing simple participation opportunities. In doing so, the study reviewed relevant literature that analyzes understanding of social memory in archival context, interpretation and development of participatory digital archives, and interrelationship between social memory and participatory digital archives. Moreover, it examined several cases of participatory digital archives as to how they apply for user participation, policy, and online service. As a general property, main participants, duration, and technology was examined. Technology was further subdivided into open source software, availability of Open API, availability of mobile web, and offline archives. Participation method was divided into active participation, hub participation, and passive participation according to degree of user participation, and the participation functions provided by each archive were compared and analyzed. In policy area, terms of use, personal information processing policy, copyright policy, collection policy, major collections, collection categories, classification methods, and description elements of each archive were discussed. Services were divided into content, search, and communication area. The interview was conducted on user and developer groups of participatory digital archives. User groups were asked to comment on participatory digital archives' participation, policies, and service areas, as well as overall experience in using archives. Developer groups were asked about the difficulties, solutions and future value of participatory digital archives. Based on such analysis, this study proposed ways for promoting active engagement of users in participatory digital archives in terms of participation, policy, content service, and communication service.
