Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out how bibliotherapy programs operated by librarians make a positive influence on the image of public library and librarian. For this purpose, the following questions were set: First, how does bibliotherapy programs influence on image of public library? Second, how does bibliotherapy programs influence on image of public librarian? To solve this problem, an experimental method was employed. In details, two groups were selected: one was an experimental group who consist of people participating in bibliotherapy programs of public libraries; and the other was a controlled group who consist of people participating in other lifetime-education classes of public libraries. In order to find out the differences between two groups a questionnaire including 10 questions were used. The questions were developed to measure 10 variables: identity, functions, role, availability, familiarity of public libraries, and identity, functions, positiveness, professionalism, necessity of public librarians. The collected data was analyzed by t-test. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, the bibliotherapy programs operated by librarians showed to have a positive influence on the image of public library. Second, the bibliotherapy program operated by librarians showed to have a positive influences on the image of public librarian.
