Abstract
In this thesis, we first describe requirements for remote user authentication schemes using smart cards to be satisfied. Next, we analyze the security of existing remote authentication schemes using smart cards, such as Fan-Chan-Zhang's scheme, Lee-Kim-Yoo's scheme, Yoon-Ryu-Yoo's scheme, and Sun-Zhong-Sun's scheme. Finally, we propose an improved remote user authentication scheme using smart cards of Sun-Zhong-Sun's, whose idea is essentially from the Lee-Kim-Yoo's
