인간은 시간 속에 존재하며 또한 공간 속에 존재한다. 눈에 보이지 않는 시간의 실체는 공간 속에서, 즉 우리 삶과 긴밀하게 관련 맺은 갖가지 생활 방식을 통해 한순간도 그대로 머물지 않고 생성되고 변화하는 일련의 과정으로 가시화된다. 나고 자라는 과정에서 인간이 하게 되는 다양한 경험은 외부에 노출된 의식의 차원뿐 아니라 무의식적 심층에까지 영향을 미친다. 어린 시절, 단순히 무료함을 달래기 위한 체험이 직업이 되거나 한 인간의 평생을 좌우하기도 한다.인간이 살아가면서 겪는 모든 것은 선(線)으로 표현될 수 있다. 선은 사물의 윤곽을 나타내고 구분하는, 미술에서 가장 기본적인 조형요소이다. 그러나 선은 단순히 조형을 구성하는 성분 그 이상의 가치를 가진다. 선은 그 자체로도 높은 심미적, 미학적 특질을 갖는다. 예술의 중추적 책무를 소통이라고 한다면, 선은 인간이 타인과 소통하는 데 필수적인 매개체이다. 그런데 선을 긋는 행위는 창작과 소통의 도구일 뿐 아니라 내면의 감정을 밖으로 끌어내 자유롭게 발산하는 창조적 수단이기도 하다.본 연구자는 그간 개인적 경험과 기억의 잔상이 빚어낸, 무의식과 의식의 흐름 사이를 오가는 내면세계를 다양한 회화적 선묘를 통해 추상적으로 풀어내는 작업을 해왔다. 이에 본 논문은 이러한 본인 작품을 중심으로 시간과 공간의 측면에서 선의 표현적 특성을 연구하고 특히 장지와 먹, 도자기 등 여러 가지 전통적 재료를 관습의 틀을 깬 비전통적인 방법으로 사용한 제작과정과 방식에 주목하여 본인 작품이 추구한 매체적 확장성을 고찰하였다.시간과 공간 개념의 이론적 정립을 토대로 동양과 서양미술에서 드러나는 선의 미술사적 특성의 차이를 파악하고, 점·선·면·공간 표현에서 독자적인 조형 언어를 구축한 미술가들의 선행 작품을 살펴보며 본인 작품과도 비교·분석하였다. 그 결과, 전통적인 표현 기법과 재료뿐 아니라 전위적인 표현 기법과 색다른 재료를 함께 사용한 본 연구자의 작품은 점·선·면의 조형요소가 시간의 흐름과 공간의 유동성을 표현하기에 적절한 도구임을 드러냈다.
Human beings exist in time and also in space. Invisible time is visualized in space through a series of processes that create and change without stopping for a moment, through various lifestyles closely related to our lives. The various experiences humans have in the process of being born and raised affect not only the level of consciousness exposed to the outside but also the unconscious depth. In childhood, simply experience to soothe boredom becomes a job or determines a person's life.Everything humans go through in their lives can be expressed in lines. Line is the most basic formative element in art that expresses and distinguishes the appearance of objects. However, the line is worth more than just the elements that make up the shape. Lines themselves have high aesthetic properties. If the central responsibility of art is communication, line is an essential medium for human communication with others. And drawing lines is not only a tool of creation and communication, but also a means of creation that freely exudes inner emotions.This researcher has been working on abstractly solving the inner world between unconsciousness and consciousness flow created by the afterimage of personal experiences and memories through various lines of pictorial images. In response, this paper studied the expressive characteristics of line in terms of time and space, and considered the media scalability pursued by his work, focusing on the production process and method in a non-traditional way that broke the custom frame using various traditional materials such as Korean paper, ink, and ceramics.Based on the theoretical logic of time and space concepts, he identified the differences in the art history characteristics of lines in Eastern and Western art, and compared and analyzed the prior works of artists who built their own molding languages in dot, line, surface, and spatial expression. As a result, the researcher's work, which used both conventional expression techniques and materials, as well as avant-garde expression techniques and different materials, found that the shaping elements of dots, lines, and surfaces were appropriate tools to express the flow of time and space.
