Abstract
WLAN mesh network is one of the popular technologies which will dominate wireless networking in the next decade. This networks support network service and connectivity anywhere and anytime with simple way and low cost. And mesh networks share many common features with ad hoc networks. So, the routing protocols for ad hoc networks can usually be applied to wireless mesh networks. An Ad Hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol is most popular routing protocol in wireless network environment. And many commercial products use routing protocols based on AODV. AODV is also the major feature for the routing protocols of IEEE 802.11s. In this thesis new multi-path routing protocols for wireless mesh networks are proposed. The multi-path routing protocols can improve the packet transmission rate and reduce the packet transmission rate. In the multi-path routing algorithm both node-disjoint and link-disjoint features are implemented. The multi-path routing protocols are compared with Ad hoc On-demand Multipath Distance Vector (AOMDV) routing protocol. The result of the simulation based on the Qualnet simulator shows that the multi-path routing protocols show higher packet transmission rate and low end-to-end delay than single-path routing protocols such as AODV. And the node-disjoint multi-path routing protocol has better performance than AOMDV routing protocol.
