Abstract
The mental retarded child education can develope the students' potential ability from teacher's professional capacity that is, structured the quality of education and the teaching method. Especially, this study focused on providing baseline data for new textbook development from how have been using science department teachers' guide in real education field for mental retardation special-education school science teacher. The specific study's purpose is following. This can find out Mental retardation science teachers' recognition and level of teachers' guide and application real condition. The major findings from the results were summarized as follows. First, science department teachers have shown various levels of awareness on frameworks and contents of the teachers' guide they have used. In terms of the sub-components of their teachers' guide, they have responded that the contents have reflected new concepts and curricular changes fairly well and that the contents were also organized well enough for them to follow the order smoothly. The important function of teachers' guide is to suggest teaching and learning activity. The necessity of teachers' guide is to need surely or recognize the necessity. Second, it shows the application that science department teachers have been using the teachers' guide more than one or two in a week, nevertheless the teachers who have used the teachers's guide less, they have no difficult in teaching without using other data or guide. Beside the teachers' guide, they have used reference data that is internet related site or data, home-school materials or personally production data in order. The reason of using these dates is not to correct the level of content for the mental retarded child or to be convenience of data reconstitution. The reason of using the teachers' guide is to use the teaching and learning activity in class and it is convenient for making teaching plan of a guidance plan of the lesson. In instruction and particulars, the field of the most using among the teachers is study method, application method, evaluation method, explanation of education course, content system of compilation in order, the field of the lease using are development evaluation and noted items, learning data, teaching learning activity , and the object of study in order. if the teacher's guide was to be reformed, it was represented that the most considerable points were as follows; teachers' guide with adding diverse reference data, sufficient complementary explanation about contents, connection of other teachers' guide, connection strengthen with inserting the content of textbook, external shape of text(movable type, color, illustration, etc), in order.
