Abstract
Objectives : The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of smoking on the skin bioelectrical potential at twelve cleft points.Methods : Eighteen healthy male subjects were assigned to smoking and control groups by a random cross-over design. Skin bioelectrical potential in proportion to the skin bioelectrical capacitance was measured at twelve cleft points and the change of skin bioelectrical potential after smoking was analysed.Results : The skin bioelectrical potential at HT6, BL63 and KI5 was significantly increased after smoking.Conclusions : Smoking influences heart, bladder and kidney meridians, and the effects are reflected in the skin bioelectrical potential at their cleft points.
