본고는 최인호 『상도』에 나타난 도가사상을 중심으로 분석하고 도가사상이 한국문학에 끼친 영향과 현대 사회에서의 도가사상 및 동학사상의 가치를 밝히고자 했습니다. 작가의 창작 의도를 살펴보면 상업의 신철학으로서의 『상도』는 올바른 상업의 길을 알려주는 것과 같이 인간으로서 올바르게 사는 삶의 교훈을 사람들에게 가르쳤습니다. 임상옥의 일생을 소개하는 과정 중에 중국의 유가(儒家), 도가(道家), 불가(佛家)등 동학사상들이 가득 차 있고 흥미로운 이야기를 서술하면서 그 이야기에서 숨겨진 삶의 철학을 가르쳐 주었습니다. 작품에 깊이 내포되어 있는 노자의 처세 철학과 작가의 인생태도를 통해 『상도』라는 소설은 단순히 상업과 관련된 철학이 아닌 물질과 이익만을 추구하는 현대사회 사람들에게 무소유의 의미와 무소유가 주는 정신적 편안함을 이야기 해주었습니다. 본고는 『상도』에 나타난 도가사상을 중심으로 소설의 내용과 결합하여 분석하기로 했습니다.본고는 네 부분으로 나눠서 최인호의 『상도』에 나타난 도가사상을 살펴보고 분석하였습니다. 첫 장에서 최인호에 대한 선행 연구를 살펴보면서 『상도』라는 소설의 독특성과 도가사상이 생겨난 이래 현대 사회에서 까지도 도가사상이 필요한 이유를 밝혀냈습니다. 또한 최인호에 대한 극단적인 비판을 살펴보면서 대중문학과 순수문학의 차이점을 논했고 대중문학이 문학의 다양성을 충족시키는 점을 논술했습니다. 최인호에 대한 연구를 통해서 작품의 변모를 엿 볼 수 있었으며 이런 작품의 변모를 통해서 최인호 작가 자신의 내면적인 변모도 느낄 수 있었습디다. 본고는 2000년에 발행되었던 『상도』라는 소설을 선정했고 그 작품에 담겨있는 동학사상, 특히 도가사상을 중심으로 분석했습니다. 제 2장에서 도가사상에 대한 연구 분석을 하며 이론적 연구부분에서 노자의 『도덕경』을 기초로 하는 노자 사상의 주요내용을 밝혔다. 배경 연구부분에서 『도덕경』의 판본이나 『도덕경』의 구성에 대하여 간단히 소개하였다. 또한 동학사상을 조성한 사상 중에 하나로서 도가사상과 다른 유파 사상의 차이점과 공통점을 간단하게 소개하였습니다. 본고는 ‘우주관’, ‘인생관’, ‘정치관’ 등 세 가지 방면에서 도가사상을 분석하고 이론적 연구를 하였습니다. 제 3장에서 『상도』에서 주인공 임상옥이 부딪힌 세 번의 위기와 사람들이 살면서 피할 수 없는 유혹들을 밝히면서 주인공 임상옥이 이런 위기를 도가사상을 통해서 벗어나는 것을 밝혔습니다. 마지막으로 앞선 연구 분석결과에 대한 총괄로 결론을 찾았습니다. 임상옥의 일생을 담고 있는 소설을 통해서 지금 이 현대 사회에서 바쁘고 힘들게 사는 사람에게 무위자연하고 청정하고 안락적인 삶의 방향을 지시했습니다.
This paper is focused on the influences brought by the ideology of the Taoism in modern Korean culture and the value of Donghak thoughts in Korean society via reading 『SangDo』 written by 최인호. The text aims at telling people how to live correctly as a humanbeing in the society where people only care about material and profit.In the text Donghak thoughts such as Confusianism, Taoism, and Buddhism in many interesting stories introducing the life of 임상옥 and the philosophy in life will be found. The essential intention of the text is to let people know that they will get the joy of nonpossession by comprehension of the Taoism in life. This paper will be centered on the Taoism in the text.This paper is divided into four chapters totally. The first chapter is focused on the uniqueness of the text and necessity of Taoism in modern society. Besides the differences between the pop culture and the pure culture are discussed and the culture became diverse for the pop culture. The internal transformation of 최인호 will be found through the text.In the second chapter the Taoism is analysed by reading 『Tao Te Ching』 and the differences and the similarities between the Taoism and other Donghak thoughts are researched briefly. The vision of the universe, the view of life and traditional values in the Taoism are researched in detail.In the last chapter the discussion is how the main character, 임상옥 got rid of the temptation by learning and understanding the Taoism. The joy and quietness brought to people from the Taoism is revealed in the text.
