Abstract
This study investigated the effects of TV programmes on audiences' Perceived Realism and Attitudes to Appearance Management. In the process of audiences' Perceived Realism and Attitudes to Appearance Management affected by TV programmes, if Body dissatisfaction and Identification played media roles. This was also confirmed by questionnaire survey. 219 South Korean female college students were selected as research subjects and finished the survey. The results indicated that TV programmes didn’t influenced audiences' perceived realism and attitudes to appearance management directly. During this process, body dissatisfaction didn’t act as a media role. Although Identification didn’t play a media role from the view of altering Perceived Realism, it came into play from the view of altering attitudes. By this research, it could be found that watching TV simply did not affect audiences' attitudes to appearance management, which associated with the influence degree of Identification.
