Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the distribution of weeds occurring in environment- friendly and conventional fields in five regions of Gyeongsang-do. The crops were sweet potato, corn, soybean, pepper, and pumpkin. A total of 10 sites were selected for each crop, including environment-friendly cultivation and conventional cultivation sites. The total number of plant species that appeared in the survey area was 28 families, 76 genera, 97 species, and 7 varieties, totaling 104 taxa. In environment-friendly fields, 26 families, 56 genera, 72 species, 3 subspecies, and 2 varieties were surveyed, totaling 77 taxa. In conventional fields, 22 families, 58 genera, 65 species, 2 subspecies, and 2 varieties were surveyed, totaling 69 taxa. The dominance rank of weeds was that Digitaria ciliaris was the most dominant in environment-friendly agriculture, followed by Setaria viridis, Humulus scandens, Artemisia indica and Echinochloa crus-galli . In conventional agriculture, Digitaria ciliaris was also the most dominant, followed by Chenopodium album, Echinochloa crus-galli, Artemisia indica and Portulaca oleracea . A total of 15 families and 35 species of exotic weeds appeared, with 25 species in environment-friendly agriculture and 23 species in conventional agriculture. There was a correlation between the occurrence of crops and weeds, but there was no difference in weed occurrence between environment-friendly and conventional agriculture.
