Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the residual characteristics and risk assessments of the fungicides dimethomorph and mandipropamid in mandarin. The pesticides were sprayed three times with a dose of 200 L/10 at 1,000 fold dilution for dimethomorph and 2,000 fold dilution for mandipropamid with different treatment days before harvest. The mandarin samples analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and method limits of quantitation (MLOQ) were 0.01 mg/kg of both fungicides. Average recoveries of dimethomorph and mandipropamid in mandarin were good in the range 88.5% to 96.1 and 80.9% to 95.8%, respectively. Residual amounts of dimethomorph and mandipropmid were ranged from 1.45 to 3.06 mg/kg and 0.45 to 1.26 mg/kg, respectively. The residue levels of two fungicides in mandarin tended to increase as spraying closer to the harvest day. Based on the first-order kinetics model, biological half-life were 24.2 days for dimethomorph and 15.6 days for mandipropamid, respectively, indicated shorter half-life compared to dimethomorph. Risk assessments of residual pesticides showed that the risks were less than 0.5% and the safety of the selected pesticides.
