Abstract
The localization of matrix metalloproteases in sound and caries dentin was investigated morphologically using immunoelectron microscopy. Freshly extracted human teeth with caries lesion were used in this study. Immunohistochemical labeling revealed the presence of MMPs in both sound and caries dentin. Denuded collagen fibers was detected in caries dentin.
