Abstract
The mechanism of hydration of calcium oxide to form calcium hydroxide was investigated by the electron-microscopy.From test results the following was obtained.In the hydration of calcium oxide by the pure water, hydrated products are colloidal crystals. In the case of hydration of calcium oxide containing sodium fluosilicate to form calcium hydroxide, hydrated products are macro-crystals of calcium hydroxide and expansive hardened bodies which have large tensile strength.It is found that calcium oxide is hydraulic compound.
