Abstract
In this study, the CFRP rod was used for flexural reinforcement, and effects of flexural and shear reinforcement of the RC beam in which the section was thickened by UHPFRC with the rod embedded were experimentally investigated. As a result, in comparison with the previously reported RC beam thickened by grout with CFRP rod and mesh embedded, a further increase in flexural load capacity was observed for the present beam. Although the ultimate fracture in both beams was caused by the bond splitting fracture of the rod, in case of the present beam the post-peak behavior became ductile, and the improvement of flexural toughness was experimentally confirmed.
