Abstract
Right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) stenting is an alternative to Blalock-Taussig shunt as a palliative treatment for tetralogy of Fallot. We report two cases of right heart failure with severe tricuspid valve regurgitation caused by RVOT stenting. Hypotension may be caused by an anoxic spell during induction of anesthesia or catheterization and by increased pulmonary blood flow after RVOT stenting. In these two cases, severe tricuspid valve regurgitation occurred because of interference by the RVOT stent with the tricuspid valve and tricuspid valve damage associated with catheterization, resulting in hypotension. In RVOT stenting, it is necessary to manage anesthesia with iatrogenic tricuspid regurgitation in mind.
