Abstract
We conducted an experimental study on the ablation area obtained in the bovine liver using a new radiofrequency ablation system with an adjustable radiofrequency electrode. For the output-increase method (10 W/min), we compared the "step method" and the "linear method" after starting ablation at 40 W (2-cm active tip electrode) and 60 W (3-cm active tip electrode) with and without a 10-W decrease at each break. Regardless of the output-increase method, we found that a longer ablation time resulted in a larger obtained ablation area and a more spherical short/long axis ratio.
