Abstract
Calc-alkaline granites in southern Myanmar were investigated to identify the minerals controlling fractionation between light and heavy REE (LREE and HREE) during magmatic differentiation. The granites with < 74 % SiO2 contain titanite, allanite, apatite and zircon. The more fractionated granites (> 74 % SiO2) with very little titanite and allanite are characterized by enrichment of HREE and the occurrence of secondary minerals including bastnäsite-(Ce), synchysite-(Y) and xenotime-(Y).
