Abstract
In this study, a detailed survey was conducted in a deteriorated section of an in-service national highway, and it was shown that the following three steps are effective in the detailed survey to clarify the causes of early deterioration: Step 1 "formulate a hypothesis of the causes of early deterioration", Step 2 "determine the detailed survey spots and methods," and Step 3 "verify the hypothesis through detailed survey". In the detailed survey, a combination of FWD testing, core sampling, and excavation survey can be used to investigate the causes of complex damage that occurred in the early-stage deteriorated sections.
