Abstract
A 77-year-old man with a history of acute cholangitis 1 year ago underwent CT showing a mucosal ridge at the distal common bile duct. He underwent ERCP guided sphincterotomy and biliary stenting. No features suggestive of malignancy were found on histopathological examination of the biopsied specimen. He was referred to our hospital for a detailed examination for mucosal ridges. Contrast-enhanced CT and MRCP showed a 10mm wide mucosal ridge at the end of the common bile duct. Morphological changes were observed over time by EUS. Based on these findings, he was diagnosed as sphincter of Oddi dysfunction with papillary folds. The clinical course was uneventful without biliary stenting.
