Abstract
In order to develop a touching map of metro network, blind people's basic characteristics of pattern recognition were determined. Eight kinds of sample maps were made for the research. Based on the data gathered through the comparative study of samples, the “easy to understand”map became clear. The factors that contribute to the map intelligibility were also verified through quantification method 1 and principal component analysis, and the similarities among samples and subjects are found. Further study on the characteristics of subjects was done based on age and sex. These results seem to be useful for developing metro maps for blind people.
