HAPA-B was evaluated on the clinical efficacy and safety in 24 patients suffering from chronic complicated tract infection.HAPA-B was administered intramuscularly in a daily dose of 400mg for 5 or 7 days. The clinical efficacy, evaluated according to the 2nd edition of judgement of UTI criteria, was excellent in 4 paients, moderate in 4 and poor in 10 out of 18 patients, the efficacy rate being 44.4%.Bacteriological examination revealed that 21 out of 28 strains were eradicated by the treatment with HAPA-B. Seven strains newly appeared after HAPA-B treatment.Side effects did not occur in any cases. The laboratory test found an elevation of basophils and eosinophils in one case, an elevation of GOT and GPT in another.
