Abstract
We report two patients who underwent surgical resection for ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with peritoneal dissemination. Case 1 is a 69-year-old man who was transferred to our institution because of loss of consciousness. The patient was diagnosed with spontaneous rupture of HCC in segment VI with massive intra-abdominal hemorrhage. Emergent transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) was performed. Moreover, we performed partial hepatectomy and radiofrequency ablation for HCC. Three years after the first operation, we resected peritoneal disseminated lesions (10 lesions) three times. Case 2 is a 42-year-old man who underwent TAE and hepatectomy for ruptured HCC at another institution and was referred to our hospital for treating HCC with dissemination. We performed surgical resection for peritoneal disseminated lesions of HCC (11 lesions). The two aforementioned patients received 8-mg lenvatinib once daily and remained free from recurrence for more than 6 months.
