Abstract
In the head-disk interface (HDI) of a hard disk drive (HDD), lubricant deformation may affect flying characteristics of the head slider. In particular, in heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR), laser heating of the lubricant changes surface tension distribution, which may cause deformation of the lubricant film. The long wave equation was employed to examine deformation of ultra-thin liquid films. In this paper, we proposed a heat transfer model considering heat conduction of solid and liquid, and surface deformation of thin liquid film caused by a local heating were numerically analysed.
