Abstract
Until December, 1987 145 operations were performed for metastatic lung tumors. Pulmonary metastases from choriocarcinoma and primary lung cancers were excluded from this study.Nineteen of the 145 cases were reoperations for recurrences of pulmonary metastasis after the original pulmonary surgery : 7 osteosarcomas, 3 colon carcinomas, 2 renal carcinomas, 2 soft tissue sarcomas, 2 pharyngeal carcinomas, one carcinoma of the uterus, one bladder carcinoma and one malignant schwannoma.Long time survival was achieved in 2 patients with osteosarcoma, one with colon carcinoma, one with renal carcinoma and one with pharyngeal carcinoma.Reoperation for recurrent pulmonary metastatic tumors seems to be effective in selected patients with osteosarcoma or renal carcinoma.
