Abstract
Tetracaine in 2%lidocaine (TL) and dibucaine (D) were compared in a double-blind study of thirty parturients undergoing cesarean section and spinal anesthesia. No significant difference in the maximum mean level of sensory anesthesia was found between the two groups. The pain of abdominal oppression at delivary of infant and the pain resulting from the operation were less in the TL group than in the D group. The frequency of use of analgesic agents was lower in the TL group. Therefore, spinal anesthesia in which 1.5ml of tetracaine in 2%lidocaine was injected into the subarachnoid space for 30 seconds was more effective for cesarean section.
