A twenty five years old woman gave birth to the boy on June 28, 2000. She took the cefdinir after delivery mainly because of perineal laceration and she left hospital on July3. Immediately, she had over 39°C fever, vomiting, myalgia anderythematous eruption with heat and swelling on her extremities and back. Blood examination showed the leukocytosis and elevation of CRP. MRSA was isolated fromthe vaginal secretion and urine in the bacteriologic culture inspection. Fever was alleviated as the instillation of the flomoxef sodium and the vaginal douche.On the third day of the admission, multiple pustules appeared on the erythema ofher hands and feet. On the fifth day, lamellar desquamation appeared on her hands. Though there was no shock sign in this case, TSST-1 from MRSA was detected. We diagnosed this case as probable toxic shock syndrome using current CDC criteria.
