Abstract
In contrast to the cerebral circulation very little is known in regards the autoregulation of the inner ear vessels. Among various metabolites of the arachidonic acid cascade the effects of PGE1, PGI2, a PGI2 derivative OP-2507, and a Thromboxan A2 inhibitor OKY-046 were examined in cats. PGI2 and OKY-046 showed no sign of decrease in perilymphatic oxygen tension up to the dose of 0.025 ug/kg/min and 50 ug/kg/min, respectively. Prostacyclin showed a property to change the nature of chemical control of the inner ear microcirculation. Prostacyclin revealed to have maximal effect to consolidate the autoregulative function of the inner ear vessels.
