Abstract
We herein describe the case of a 63-year-old woman who presented with the chief complaint of a positive fecal occult blood test. She subsequently underwent total colonoscopy, which revealed the presence of transparent, whitish condyles and mulberry warts, measuring approximately 20mm in diameter and extending from the anal canal to the lower rectum. Magnifying endoscopy using a narrow band imaging (NBI) system revealed punctate and meandering capillaries in each minute lesion. Histological findings from a biopsy specimen confirmed condyloma acuminatum, and an endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) was thus performed. This case of anorectal condyloma acuminatum occurred in an older, HIV-negative woman. Recurrent cases showing tumorous lesions have been previously reported, and ESD is considered to be an effective treatment for these.
