Abstract
Acoustic levitation is a technology that realizes three-dimensional manipulation of small objects in the air without physical supports by using ultrasound. It has been used for volumetric displays because it can levitate and move small objects as pixels within a safe range of ultrasound output to humans. In this paper, we proposed a method to trap airborne objects dynamically by using camera tracking and acoustic levitators, and evaluated the effectiveness. The evaluation result shows that this method can be used to trap objects without geometric restrictions. It is expected that this approach will widen the range of the applications of acoustic levitation.
