Abstract
This paper aims at specifying and overcoming the difficulties in communicating, transferring, and sharing tacit knowledge accumulated in organizations, from the view point of embodied cognitive science. The difficulties lie in unconscious and implicit nature of organizational knowledge as well as language inability of expressing subtle yet crucial information in the situations where the knowledge is acquired and utilized. We propose that, in order to overcome these difficulties, we have to reconceptualize knowledge; it is always generated by multimodal simulations and continuous interaction with the situations. We also propose that the use figurative language would be effective because it triggers bodily and situational information necessary to carry out the simulations.
