Abstract
We studied 81 cases of otolaryngological infections for the purpose of evaluating the clinical efficacy and safety of Cefteram pivoxil. The following results were obtained. 1. When clinical efficacy was evaluated, the efficacy rate was 87.0% in acute infections, 68.6% in chronic infections, and 79.0% when judged by a committee. 2. The bacteriological effect of Cefteram pivoxil was 95.2%. 3. The efficacy rate of Cefteram pivoxil to patients who had been given other antibiotics with unsuccessful results was 86.7%. 4. Side effects were observed in 4 (3.8%) of 105 cases. Side effects were mild in all cases. These results indicate that Cefteram pivoxil is a useful drug for the treatment of otolaryngological infections.
