Abstract
To improve blood compatibility or to carry drugs on metallic medical devices, we carried out surface modification with biocompatible polymers onto COOH or NH2 containing DLC aluminum substrate(f-DLC) by Ar plasma irradiation-post/graft polymerization or condensation with COOH or NH2 terminated polymer by using N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide as a catalyst. The grafted f-DLC(g-DLC) was characterized with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and scanning probe microscope(SPM). The biocompatibility of g-DLC surfaces was evaluated by antigen-antibody reaction etc.
