Abstract
From September 1968 to January 1969, 44 algae and plankton samples were collected from 10 localities in E Libya and N W Sudan by J. Léonard, botanist of a scientific Belgian expedition to the Libyan desert. About 312 species and infraspecific taxa were observed in these samples, among which the diatoms are the more numerous (43%) whereas the blue-green algae amount to 27% and the green algae to 23% of the algal flora. New combinations are proposed in the genera Leibleinia (Cyanophyceae) and Brachysira (Diatomophyceae).
