Abstract
Algae and plankton samples were collected from 21 localities in central and south-eastern Iran by J. Léonard, botanist of the Belgian scientific expedition to the deserts of Iran in 1972. About 300 species and infraspecific taxa were observed, of which the diatoms represent more than the two thirds. The green algae and the blue-green algae represent respectively only 17% and 14% of the algal flora. Two new species, Nitzschia curvata and N. iranica, and a new form, Navicula egregia f. elongata are described.
