At the beginning of the 20th century, travelling to Italy became sufficiently easy for quite a wide range of Russian people. The specific reasons and motivations for undertaking such a journey, however, varied. This article considers the main reasons why Italy attracted Russian writers and artists. Some of these would traditionally be associated with 'tourism': Italian countryside, art, history. Yet in the works of the writers examined here – Mikhail Kuzmin, Vladislav Khodasevich, and Osip Mandelshtam – these relatively common themes take on unexpected, non-traditional turns. For other leading writers such as Vyacheslav Ivanov and Andrei Bely, the reasons can be religious or occult. Au début du XXe siècle pour des cercles assez larges de la société russe, un voyage en Italie ne présentait pas de difficulté particulière. Cependant, dans chaque cas, et même dans un cadre simplement touristique, les motivations pouvaient varier. L'article examine les raisons principales qui attiraient les artistes russes en Italie. Si ces raisons, la nature, l'art, l'histoire... paraissent traditionnelles, leur traitement par les poètes russes dont il est principalement question dans l'article, M. Kuzmin, VI. Xodasevič, O. Mandel'štam, met en évidence des aspects originaux. Chez d'autres, comme V. Ivanov ou A. Belyj, il peut s'agir de motifs liés à la religion ou à l'occultisme.
