Up to now Brigitte Kronauer's novel has concealed the fact that it goes beyond a simple reflection of "real life" experience. In the course of the self-realization of its protagonist, the novel's own form of representation becomes the subject of the work, whose structure can be traced through detailed individual sentences as well as its metaphorical support. This metastructure is comparable to the path through a certain Roman edifice followed by Rita Münster at the end of the novel.
