Abstract
(1) The food of Agriolimax reticulatus on rough grassland was investigated by the examination of their crop contents and the comparison of plant fragments from these with grasses available in the habitat. (2) Holcus lanatus leaf material was the most frequently ingested food. Other grasses, dicotyledon leaf material, earthworm, insects and grass anthers were also ingested. (3) There was no evidence that plant foods were taken in proportion to their availability in the habitat. (4) There was no evidence of seasonal variation in the plant leaf diet in the period investigated, December-July. (5) There was no evidence of variation in diet in slugs of different sizes, dead wet weights ranging from 43 to 364 mg.
