Abstract
Instruction in financial literacy is a key component of colleges of business. The effectiveness of instruction in the earliest of courses provides a foundation for future learning. The analysis of effectiveness of financial instruction can be difficult to assess. This research examines instruction and results from the perspective of matched-pairs analysis that looks at pre and post-instruction assessment matched to the individual student and across multiple professors teaching separate sections to determine the level of improvement. Results of the analysis reveal whether there is improvement in financial literacy, if the professor teaching the material made a difference, and if parametric assessment methodology is suitable for the analysis.
