Foucaults care of the self: a case from mental health work

Abstract
A study examines the manner in which mental health workers who treat victims of sexual abuse provide appropriate care to the clients. Findings indicate that they are skeptical about traditional medical approaches to treat the clients and employ practical and exploratory mental health care approaches, in line with Michel Foucaults concepts of the processes of normalization and the care of the self.
