Abstract
The anticonvulsant potential of safranal against chemical induced seizure model has already been reported. We here detail the protective effect of safranal against the increased current electroshock model of epilepsy. Safranal at dose levels of 0.20 ml/kg and 0.40 ml/kg, i.p. increased the threshold current significantly. The results demonstrate that safranal can be used for the treatment of generalized type seizures. Key words: safranal, epilepsy, generalized seizure, ICES
