Abstract
The expansion of maleic anhydride (MA) production at plants run by Miles Inc and Huntsman Specialty Chemicals Corp will bring significant new capacity to the market. Miles plans to start MA production at its Baytown, TX, plant in Nov, 1994, with capacity of 120 million pounds a year. Huntsman bought a 240-million-pound facility from Monsanto Co in 1993, making it the largest domestic MA producer. The plant should be ready to run at full capacity by 1997 or 1998.
