Abstract
The Food and Drug Administration claims that foodborne outbreaks were caused by mishandling of food in the retail outlets of the food industry such as restaurants, schools, camps, markets, churches, institutions and vending locations. However, results of research by the National Restaurant Assn, which indicate that about 5 of 6 meals are home prepared, refute this conclusion. Another study found out that 99% of surveyed homes are prone to foodborne illness due to poor food safety practices.
Beginning with the 1993 Food Code, and continuing to the present, the FDA has made the claim that 'where reported foodborne outbreaks were caused by mishandling of food, most of [...]
