Abstract
The article introduces a new method developed for selective acquisition of Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra of microorganisms in-line during fermentation, using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model. The findings are discussed in detail. It is concluded that ultrasound-enhanced in-line ATR mid-IR spectroscopy can be used as a real-time PAT method for the in situ monitoring of cellular biochemistry during fermentation.
