Abstract
The article describes a study in which urban youths' response towards a community cycling initiative 'Earn-A-Bike' undertaken by a local non-profit Neighborhood Bike Works (NBW) in Philadelphia, PA was qualitatively examined. Five theories i.e. cycling knowledge, self efficacy, benefits of cycling, barriers to cycling, and support from family and friends were discovered. Local non-profits' participation in urban communities and their contribution in improving urban children's lives from health, educational, and cultural standpoint was also studied.
