Market deregulation and removal of trade barriers have made merger and acquisition of foreign companies easier. This trend, however, complicates the creation of fair compensation packages. Multinational corporations can either opt to implement global compensation programs where salaries and benefits are kept similar across countries or vary their policies base on the business practice of the country. More companies prefer to adopt the latter since they found it more difficult to implement the former.
