Abstract
Increase in average life expectancy of people with intellectual disability compel doctors to be aware of the medicolegal position around where the responsibility for assessment and consent lies for medical or surgical procedures or treatments. Taster programme in intellectual psychiatry offered regionally to West Midlands Deanery doctors help juniors gain skills and knowledge for management of patients with intellectual disability.
